| Avent Old Vine
Tempranillo is made from 100% Tinta del Pais (the
local name for Tempranillo) from vineyards that were
planted between 60 and 120 years ago, with an average
age of 80 years.
Each vineyard was picked when the
grapes were optimally ripe, with harvest starting in
the middle of September and continuing until the middle
of October. Fermentation took place at low temperatures
to preserve the fresh fruit flavors, with daily manual
pumpovers to maximize extraction, and took up to 3 weeks
to complete.
15% of the wine was then placed into
new and 1 year old Eastern European oak barrels for
4 months. This light touch of oak enhances the natural
flavors and tannins of the grape without overwhelming
them.
Available in a 3-liter Bag-in-Box
for immediate enjoyment.
"This is really a awesome wine discovery!
Dark, sinister aroma with plum, cherries, burned coffee,
autumn leaves and chocolate. In the mouth/palate; fleshy
and rich, careful tannins and lots of black berries
and other dark berries, vanilla, barrels and spice.
Great concentration for a BIB to be, with a insane impression
of fruit and careful tannins in the ending. A modern,
fruity skilled style, which draws on grape materials
from old vines. Can put up with everything from beef
and grilled meat to Mexican food, casseroles and lamb
meat.
If only all BiB's were like this..."
